Services for Children

Julie’s Children’s Services Program offers early childhood education and care for infant, toddler, and preschool children of our adult learners, along with Universal Pre-K for Boston 3- and 4-year-old residents. Our curriculum is tailored to the needs and abilities of each distinct age group. All of our classrooms are fully licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and provide comprehensive programming that combines nurturing and stimulating activities designed to foster the cognitive, physical, and emotional development of each child. Our experienced staff collaborates with each parent/caregiver to develop an individualized plan and establish goals for each child. Parents are essential partners in their children’s learning process and participate in parent education workshops, classroom observations, monthly parent and child Family Literacy activities, and frequent individual parent-teacher meetings.

Infant & Toddler Programs

Our infant and toddler program serves the children of our adult learners enrolled in our Family Development and ABE Programs. Children in these classrooms are between the ages of three months and just under 3 years of age. With low teacher-to-child ratios, each class offers a soothing environment, developmentally appropriate materials, and a curriculum designed to enhance babies’ and toddlers’ growing interest in the world around them. Staff  partner with parents to build a trusting relationship, supported by clear and frequent communication and access, so that together, they can support a young child’s growth and development.

Preschool Program

Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK), is an initiative by the City of Boston and Boston Public Schools that promises to deliver high-quality pre-kindergarten that is free of cost to Boston’s three and four-year-old children. Pre-K is a 6.5-hour school day for 180 days per year. Students learn from the Boston Public Schools Focus on Pre-K curriculum and the Building Blocks curriculum, which are national models in early childhood education. Julie’s Universal Preschool offers an age-appropriate, culturally responsive classroom environment with 2 educators and a family engagement coordinator available to provide support to families to meet their individual needs. This classroom is open to Boston residents, as well as the children of our adult learners regardless of residence. If not a Boston resident, each child must have a childcare voucher, which Julie’s staff can assist in obtaining.
